Marcel Markfort takes over TMS sales responsibility for North America
Local contact backed by Group expertise
Marcel brings experience from Traffic Tunnelling Sales at Herrenknecht as well as the academic background of his Master’s studies. Before taking over his new role, he spent a week at the TMS headquarters in Le Pouzin to gain detailed insight into Multi-Service Vehicles and the processes behind them.
The program covered the complete MSV lifecycle, including assembly, hydraulics, electrical systems and software, post-production testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and service. Marcel also worked with the TMS teams on sales, marketing and project management topics.
In North America, he will represent TMS as well as Herrenknecht Formwork, Herrenknecht Separations and Periphery. He will work closely with Steffen Dubé, President and General Manager at Herrenknecht USA & Canada.
Building on current projects in Montréal and Cleveland
Recent projects illustrate the range of logistics requirements TMS is supporting in North America.
For the Montréal Blue Line Extension, TMS has supplied four Multi-Service Vehicles for the transport of precast segments, construction equipment and secondary lining concrete, together with one electric Personnel Service Vehicle. The five vehicles are now operating on site as the TBM “Lisette” excavates the 4.6-kilometer mechanized section of the six-kilometer metro extension.
At the Southerly Tunnel and Consolidation Project in Cleveland, a new 50-ton single-frame MSV complements a fleet of existing TMS vehicles refurbished by the customer. The combination of proven and newly supplied equipment reflects the long service life of TMS vehicles and their adaptability to subsequent projects. The MSVs support the construction of a 3.5-mile soft-ground storage tunnel that forms part of NEORSD’s long-term program to reduce combined sewer overflows.

Preparing for changing logistics requirements
Public investment programs in Canada and the United States continue to support transit, wastewater and other infrastructure sectors relevant to mechanized tunnelling. At the same time, project owners are placing greater emphasis on emissions, air quality, noise and working conditions underground.
Battery-electric MSVs can contribute to these objectives, but their successful use requires more than replacing a diesel engine. Battery technology, charging locations, operating cycles, autonomy and the available power infrastructure must be considered early in the project.
TMS addressed these questions at the North American Tunneling Conference 2026, where the company presented practical insights into battery-electric MSVs and the integration of energy management into tunnel logistics. The electric Personnel Service Vehicle currently operating on the Montréal Blue Line Extension also shows how electrified transport is already becoming part of North American tunnelling projects.
With Marcel Markfort as a local point of contact, TMS is strengthening the exchange with customers and project teams in the USA and Canada.
